It most certainly did!!! Not only was Renate's gift waiting at the M&J's house for me so was a box of treasure from another Bloglandian sister, Laurie of Laurie's Charming Designs. Laurie believe it or not was the very first bloglandian blog that I made a comment on. :) I sorta fell into bloglandia not unlike Alice or Dorothy&Toto!! I was looking up a web site that was in the back of the Romantic Homes Magazine (I think or maybe Country Home) when I saw their blog address I decided it was time to see what all the fuss about blogging was. WELLLLL you know how you can't just stop at reading one blog!! :) So there I was hours later blog hopping like mad thinking I had finally found a whole group of people/artists who actually GOT IT!!!!!! It was Laurie who actually held my hand and cheered me on when I was debating about whether to blog. When I decided I could do this, again it was Laurie & Dawn-The Feathered Nest who helped me get the blog set up and patiently fixed my ever so un-techie disasters!!
Laurie is another dear Bloglandian sister who knows that I really don't have any ready sources for JUNK. So every so often she will send me a wonderful care package She did have this note stuck in the box: "....I had to laugh...really...how many people do you know that you can send them a box of treasure like this...and not think you are crazy" Soooo ya want to see my tras...treasures?? :)
First off did you notice the wrapping on the box???? Laurie is such an amazing multimedia artist who really excels at painting!!
Poor naked little bisque baby!!! Actually she might have started life out as a bride because she has a bit of a tattered veil glued on her (hairless) head??? Her arms and legs are wire with woven string over the wire. Ahhhhhh but you had to have noticed the beautiful roses she has painted on her forehead??!! That would be Little Miss Laurie. She can't help herself anything that holds still for a minute she will be painting flora &flona on ;)
Oye and look inside the cigar box all kinds of broken jewelry and orphan earrings!!!! Yeah!!!!
She also so thoughtfully added a little magazine on turning junk to treasure projects and this amazing book "The Artful Card" Thank you so much dear little sister!! Oi you know how I stumble and falter and don't even know where to begin when it comes to creating paper art!! Perhaps this can help me gain a bit of confidence in creating cards. Oh I so admire those of you that create the most incredibly beautiful paper art!!!!
Before I close tonight please take a couple of minutes and watch this video for me. I know that Oct. was Breast Cancer awareness month, but since BC has a year round recruiting program every day is a good day to fight to eradicate Breast Cancer I received this video and the accompanying note from a friend who has been on the front lines on the war for ages.
"Our daughter-in-law, Emily (MacInnes) Somers, created, directed and choreographed this in Portland last week for her Medline glove division as a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness. This was all her idea to help promote their new pink gloves. I don't know how she got so many employees, doctors and patients to participate, but it started to really catch on and they all had a lot of fun doing it.
When the video gets 1 million hits, Medline will be making a huge contribution to the hospital, as well as offering free mammograms for the community. Please check it out. It's an easy and great way to donate to a wonderful cause, and who hasn't been touched by breast cancer."
So sit back hit the play button and I promise before it's done you will be wishing you too had pink gloves!! :) Then do me a favor pass it along will ya 1,000,000 hits is a bunch!!
Here is the address if you need it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEdVfyt-mLw
